Former Bauchi Deputy Governor Audu Sule-Katagum Dies At 69

Former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State, Architect Audu Sule-Katagum, has died at the age of 69.

He passed away in the early hours of Saturday, June 20, 2026, according to a statement issued by his media aide, Shamsuddeen Lukman Abubakar. The cause of death was not disclosed.

In the statement, Abubakar described Sule-Katagum as a dedicated public servant who served Bauchi State and Nigeria with distinction across various roles.

“It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Arch. Audu Sule-Katagum, Wazirin Katagum and former Deputy Governor of Bauchi State. The deceased passed away in the early hours of today after a life of dedicated service to his community, Bauchi State and the nation,” the statement read.

The aide also prayed for Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings and grant him eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus.

Before becoming deputy governor, Sule-Katagum served as Chief of Staff at the Bauchi State Government House under former Governor Mohammed Abdullahi Abubakar. He was appointed Deputy Governor in 2018 and served until 2019.

He also held the traditional title of Wazirin Katagum in the Katagum Emirate, where he was widely respected for his public and community service contributions.

He has since been buried in accordance with Islamic rites.
