Four dead, 43 injured in Oyo-Ogbomosho expressway accident

Four persons have reportedly lost their lives while 43 others were badly injured in an accident which occurred on Wednesday at about 7:am along Oyo-Ogbomodsho expressway. 

It was gathered that the accident, which involved a truck load of human beings,cows and goats, fell into a deep pothole and swerved into the bush while in motion. 

Confirming the incident, the Oyo State Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Mrs Uche Chukwurah, said a total of 62 persons were affected in the incident.

According to Chukwurah, the accident occurred around Sekona area on Oyo-Ogbomoso Expressway as they were able to rescue 16 out of the 62 persons in the vehicle.

She said, “The trailer was carrying goats, cows and human beings, all adult males.

“Four people lost their lives, 43 people were injured while 16 people were rescued unhurt,” 

The FRSC commander further explained that the driver could have possibly slept off as a result of fatigue and this might have led to the vehicle running into the ditch, resulting in the accident.

She also said the injured persons were taken to Ebunoluwa Clinic, while corpses of the dead victims had been deposited at the mortuary at the Ladoke Akintola Teaching Hospital, Ogbomosho.
