Four persons died on Tuesday night in an auto crash that occurred around Park C Turning on the Lagos- Ibadan expressway corridor of Ogun State.
Eight persons also sustained varying degrees of injuries from the accident.
Involved in the crash were two vehicles -a Howo truck and a Mazda bus with registration number: EPE440YG.
Spokesperson of the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State, Florence Okpe, confirmed this to newsmen in a statement in Abeokuta on Wednesday.
Okpe said that the accident was due to excessive speeding on the part of the Mazda bus driver who didn’t observe that the truck was making a turning, lost control and rammed onto the bucket of the truck.
She said that a total number of 14 persons were involved in the auto crash, eight persons got injured, and four persons were recorded dead while two persons were rescued unhurt.
The Chief Route Commander said that the injured victims had been taken to two hospitals for medical attention – Famobis Hospital at Pakuro and Idera Hospital at Sagamu, while the corpses had been deposited at Idera morgue.
The Sector Commander, FRSC Ogun Sector Command, CC Anthony Uga, cautioned motorists against excessive speeding and advised them to drive responsibly and observe all road signs.
Uga also sympathized with the families of the victims and pray to God to strengthen them.
