Twelve women have been abducted by suspected Boko Haram terrorists in Mussa district, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State, in yet another disturbing incident linked to the rising insecurity across the country.
The victims were returning home from their farms around 5pm on Saturday when the attackers reportedly intercepted them.
Confirming the incident on Sunday, November 23, the Borno State Police Public Relations Officer, Nahum Daso, said the command had already begun investigating the abduction.
“There was an abduction yesterday in Askira-Uba.
“12 females were abducted by suspected Boko Haram terriorists when they were coming back from the farm,” he said.

Daso appealed for calm, explaining that security efforts were already ongoing to track the victims and their abductors.
“The details are still sketchy, but I can confirm that efforts are underway,” he said, adding that “when done, it will be made public.”
Residents in the area have expressed fear and frustration, calling on authorities to act swiftly and ensure the safe return of the women.
The attack comes at a time when the country is grappling with an increasing number of abductions.
Recent kidnappings in Kebbi, Kwara and Niger have drawn national outrage and heightened public anxiety about safety in rural communities.
