Ayra Starr is set for one of the biggest performances of her career after being named the headline act for the halftime show of the 2026 NFL London Game.
The Nigerian-Beninese singer will perform on October 11 at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium during the Philadelphia Eagles’ clash with the Jacksonville Jaguars, becoming the latest Afrobeats star to take the genre to one of the world’s biggest sporting platforms.
Her appearance is part of the National Football League’s 2026 international programme, which features games across seven countries and four continents.
For Starr, the booking arrives at a defining point in her career, following the release of her third studio album, Starrgirl, major collaborations, high-profile performances and growing recognition on the international music scene.
Starr described the NFL opportunity as a dream come true, citing her affection for London and her excitement about bringing her Starrgirl era to the global audience at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.
That era began with the release of Starrgirl on August 14. The 16-track album features Wizkid, Rema, ZAYN, Leon Thomas, kwn, Danny Ocean and Theodora, underscoring the expanding range of Starr’s international collaborations.
The album followed a string of prominent appearances and musical partnerships. Starr recently made her Tiny Desk debut, appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show and collaborated with Beninese music legend Angélique Kidjo on Aye Kan (Are You Coming Back?). She also featured on FOLA’s Treat U Right.
Her commercial numbers further underline the scale of her reach. Starr has surpassed seven billion global streams and one billion YouTube views. She has also earned two Grammy nominations for Best African Music Performance and won the BET Award for Best International Act.
Her NFL appearance places her alongside a growing group of Nigerian artistes who have taken Afrobeats into major global sporting events. Burna Boy, Tems and Rema performed at the 2023 NBA All-Star Game, while Burna Boy later appeared at the 2026 FIFA World Cup final halftime show.
Starr, however, will headline the halftime entertainment at the NFL’s London fixture, giving her the opportunity to carry the full spotlight as the featured musical act.
The announcement comes days after she secured five nominations for the 18th Headies. The nominations, announced on August 25, include Best Female Artiste and Digital Artiste of the Year. Her song Hot Body is in contention for Song of the Year and Headies Viewers’ Choice, while her performance at the 2025 Global Citizen Festival earned a nomination for Best Performer (Live).
The latest recognition follows an already eventful year for Starr, who has performed on Glastonbury’s Pyramid Stage and continued to build a catalogue of international collaborations.
Her career momentum has also come against the backdrop of a personal health challenge. In July, Starr disclosed that she had undergone major surgery and shared glimpses of her recovery with fans. She did not reveal the nature of the procedure, and no verified public information has established the reason for it.

The NFL booking adds another high-profile chapter to that record, while giving Starr a major platform to introduce her latest musical era to an audience far beyond Afrobeats’ traditional markets.
When she takes the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium stage on October 11, Starr will have another opportunity to demonstrate the reach of a sound that has travelled far beyond its West African roots.
