Ex-Niger Delta militant leader, High Chief Government Ekpemupolo, better known as Tompolo, has voiced confidence that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara will return to office despite his recent suspension.
Speaking over the weekend during his birthday celebration in Gbaramatu Kingdom, Warri South-West, Delta State, Tompolo stressed the need for unity within the Ijaw Nation and called for political understanding across the region.
“We have only one state, and our focus remains on Bayelsa. If you think power lies solely in being president or governor, and you attempt to undermine Bayelsa, you will face consequences,” he said.
He continued, “One of us is stronger than twenty. Our brother, the governor of Bayelsa State, no matter our political disagreements—will always have our support.

“Even in Rivers State, our son Fubara will return to his rightful place. Dialogue and understanding will prevail.”
Fubara was suspended alongside his deputy and members of the State House of Assembly on March 18, 2025, following a state of emergency declared by President Bola Tinubu. In the interim, former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Ibok-Ete Ibas (Rtd), was appointed sole administrator of the state for six months.
Reflecting on Fubara’s political journey, Tompolo pointed fingers at former Governor Nyesom Wike, hinting at a lack of consultation with the Ijaw people.
“Wike is my friend, but when he chose Fubara, no Ijaw man was involved or consulted. Yet, here we are standing for truth,” he said.
