Organised Labour, on Monday, threatened to embark on a total, comprehensive and indefinite nationwide strike if fuel price is further increased from the existing N617, which it deplored as “illegal”.
NLC President, Joe Ajaero, made this fresh threat at the African Trade Union alliance meeting in Abuja.
Organised labour also warned against undermining demands of the union.
Recall that on Sunday, oil marketers had indicated that the cost of Premium Motor Spirit, popularly called petrol, would rise to between N680/litre and N720/litre in the next few weeks if the dollar continues to trade at between N910 and N950 at the parallel market.
The marketers also hinted that dealers seeking to import petrol were being forced to halt their plans because of the scarcity of foreign exchange to import the commodity.
On August 4, 2023, organised labour had suspended a proposed indefinite strike after a meeting with Presiden Bola Tinubu at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
