Fulani Herders Kill Police Inspector, Civilian in Benue

Suspected Fulani herders have killed a police officer and a civilian in a deadly attack on Ipelle Village in Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State.

In a phone conversation, a source who identified herself only as Esther Ene told First Daily Correspondent on Wednesday that the incident occurred on Tuesday evening, when armed assailants stormed the village and opened fire on residents.

The deceased Inspector Daniel Omanyebu who was attached to Ipelle Police Outpost under Agatu Division, and one unidentified civilian were fatally shot during the assault.

The body of the slain officer has been recovered and deposited at a mortuary, while efforts are ongoing to apprehend those responsible for the heinous act.

All efforts by our correspondent to reach the spokesperson for the state command, Udeme Edet, prove abortive.
