Nollywood actress and filmmaker Funke Akindele has mourned veteran actor Olu Jacobs, describing him as a true legend whose contributions to the Nigerian film industry would not be forgotten.
Akindele, in a condolence message shared on her official X account on Wednesday, described the late actor as a “kind and gracious man” who consistently supported, encouraged and uplifted young talents.
She said Jacobs’ impact on the creative industry extended beyond his performances, noting his role in supporting emerging talents.
“A true legend, a kind and gracious man who was always willing to support, encourage and uplift young talents. Your remarkable legacy and contribution to our industry will never be forgotten,” she wrote.

Akindele extended her condolences to Jacobs’ wife, veteran actress Joke Silva, their children and the entire Jacobs family.
She also sympathised with members of the Nigerian film industry and prayed for comfort and strength for everyone affected by the loss.
“May God grant Uncle Olu eternal rest, and may He bless all of us in the creative industry with good health and long life. Amen,” she added.
Jacobs, one of Nigeria’s most celebrated actors, died at the age of 84. His death has prompted tributes from colleagues and prominent figures across the Nigerian entertainment industry.
