Ghost towns in South-East as residents observe sit-at-home for Nnamdi Kanu’s trial

Many towns in South-East states were deserted on Tuesday (today) as people honoured the sit-at-home order issued by the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) in solidarity with its leader, Nnamdi Kanu, who appeared in court on Tuesday.

In Imo State, especially in Orlu town and Owerri Municipal, residents stayed indoors.

It was the same story also in Ebonyi State, whose Governor, David Umahi, has continually boasted that the state does not support Biafra and even called that those agitating for it should be crushed.

There were also reports of ghost towns in Abia and Anambra and Enugu states.

The trial of the IPOB leader, meanwhile, has been adjourned by a Federal High Court in Abuja to Wednesday, January 19.
