Global Outage Hits Elon Musk’s X, Leaves Thousands Offline

Thousands of users across multiple continents were left frustrated on Monday after X, owned by billionaire entrepreneur Elon Musk, suffered a major service disruption that knocked both its mobile app and website offline.

The platform — formerly known as Twitter — began experiencing issues early in the day, with many users reporting blank screens or pages stuck on the X logo. Others who managed to access their feeds were greeted with an error message reading: “Something went wrong. Try reloading.”

Outage tracking website Downdetector recorded a sharp spike in complaints, pointing to a widespread breakdown in service.

Reports poured in from users in Nigeria, Ghana, Canada, Australia, France, Indonesia, and Germany, highlighting the global scale of the disruption.

Checks confirmed that the outage affected both desktop and mobile versions of the platform, preventing users from refreshing timelines, posting content, or accessing core features.

As of press time, X had yet to release an official explanation for the incident or provide a timeline for full restoration.

Monday’s outage adds to a growing list of technical setbacks for the platform. In November 2025, X was hit by another major disruption alongside internet infrastructure provider Cloudflare, leaving users in several countries — including the United States, India, and Nigeria — unable to load timelines or publish posts.

Despite recurring service interruptions,  X remains one of the world’s most heavily used social media networks.

However, the latest downtime has reignited concerns among users who depend on the platform for breaking news, business engagement, and real-time communication.

For many, Monday’s blackout was more than an inconvenience — it was another reminder of how vulnerable digital platforms can be when millions rely on them every day.
