Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara on Friday returned to Port Harcourt, one day after President Bola Tinubu lifted the emergency rule that had kept him out of office for six months.
Fubara’s flight landed at Port Harcourt International Airport, Omagwa, at about 11:50 a.m., where he was received by a large crowd of supporters, political associates and traditional dancers.
The governor, accompanied by aides, moved through the VIP wing as chants and songs echoed across the terminal.
His arrival followed Thursday’s reconvening of the Rivers State House of Assembly, which had been suspended alongside his administration since March amid political unrest in the oil-rich state.

Although reinstated, Fubara did not immediately head to Government House to resume official duties.
His supporters, however, described his return as a sign of stability after months of uncertainty.
The state government has yet to issue a formal statement on his next steps
