Gov Idris Reaffirms Support for NG-CARES Programme

Kebbi State governor, Nasir Idris, has restated his administration’s dedication to advancing the NG-CARES programme, locally adapted in the state as KAURA CARES.

The governor, through a statement from his Chief Press Secretary, Ahmed Idris, made this known on Tuesday, the 26th of August, 2025, during the North-West Stakeholders’ Consultative Meeting themed “Nigeria Community Action for Resilience and Economy Stimulus.”

He emphasized that the initiative has continued to receive full backing from his government.

Highlighting its impact, he noted, “It is under this programme that for the very first time in Nigeria, a subnational government gave grants of N100,000 to 65,000 people, amounting to N6.5 billion.”

Governor Idris pledged that his administration will keep strengthening every aspect of the programme both now and in the years ahead. He maintained that Kebbi State will always prioritize its people, stressing that his government will continue to care and Kaura will continue to care.

He called on participants to listen closely, offer constructive feedback, and ensure that their input contributes to shaping a more effective NG-CARES 2.0 once it begins.

According to the statement, Kebbi has consistently remained one of the best-performing states in the NG-CARES assessments, topping all four rounds of evaluation so far.

Speaking at the session, Dr. Abdularim Obaje, National Coordinator of the Zonal Stakeholders’ Meeting, applauded the governor for his commitment to ensuring the programme is well-coordinated.

He explained that the meeting was designed to assess the work of independent verification agents under NG-CARES, with the aim of reviewing their overall performance and improving the verification process.
