Governor Dauda Lawal on Wednesday, toured several Zamfara communities in Kauran Namoda LGA after what authorities described as a brutal wave of bandit attacks.
Figures from the Zamfara Circle Community Initiative reveal the scale of the violence: 144 kidnapped, 24 killed, and 16 injured in multiple LGAs over recent weeks.
In July alone, bandits allegedly killed 33 kidnapped victims in Banga town after collecting a ransom of N50 million.
Standing before grieving families, Lawal vowed to “intensify security operations” and insisted the attackers were “deliberately targeting communities to instil fear.” He urged residents to “remain steadfast in prayers” as the state works to reclaim safety.

Beyond security, the governor pledged to fix the basics, road networks, electricity, potable water, and mobile connectivity.
His visit covered Banga, Sakajiki, Kuryar Madaro, Maguru, and Tambarawa communities, now grappling with the trauma of repeated assaults.
