Governor Otti Swears in New Appointees, Emphasizes Accountability

Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, has officially sworn in two newly appointed government officials, Emmanuel Chukwuemeka Meribeole and Rev. Annie Onu, urging them to demonstrate excellence and dedication in serving the state.

During the swearing-in ceremony held at the Government House in Umuahia on Wednesday, Governor Otti issued a stern warning against corruption and inefficiency, stressing that his administration maintains a strict zero-tolerance policy toward such misconduct.

Meribeole, appointed as the Special Adviser on Projects, and Onu, the newly designated Executive Secretary of the Abia State Diaspora Commission, were charged with meeting the high expectations of the people and delivering tangible results in their respective roles.

“Here, we have zero tolerance for corruption and poor performance,” Otti stated firmly, reinforcing his administration’s commitment to transparency and effectiveness.

Governor Otti highlighted the extensive experience both appointees bring to their new roles.

Meribeole, a retired Permanent Secretary from the Federal Ministry of Aviation, is already involved in overseeing the ongoing construction work at the Abia Airport project.

Onu, a member of the Abia Diaspora Commission, will be responsible for coordinating diaspora affairs and ensuring strong engagement between the Abia community abroad and their home state.

Expressing confidence in their abilities, the governor congratulated the new officials and encouraged them to leverage their expertise for the advancement of Abia State.

In their response, both Meribeole and Onu pledged to align their efforts with the administration’s development agenda, assuring that they would work diligently for the progress and well-being of Abia’s citizens.
