Nigeria Governors’ Forum has commended the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, for banning the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad and other Technical Squads of the force from operating in the country.
NGF in a statement titled, “NGF Commends IGP on FSARS Ban,”, signed by its Chairman, Governor Kayode Fayemi, and made available to newsmen in Abuja, on Monday, said the Forum was satisfied with the action of the IGP.
According to the statement, “The Nigeria Governors’ Forum received with great relief and satisfaction the decision by the Inspector-General of Police, M.A. Adamu, to ban with immediate effect the operations of the Federal Special Anti-Robbery Squad and a range of other tactical squads of the Force.
“We also completely agree with the directive of the IGP that ‘no personnel of the Force is authorised to embark on patrols or tactical assignments in mufti’ forthwith.”
