The Nigeria Governors’ Forum has issued a strong rebuke over the recent violent attacks in Yelewata and Daudu, both in Guma Local Government Area of Benue State.
In a statement released on the 16th of June, 2025, by its Chairman, Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq of Kwara State, the forum described the killings as “a grievous affront to human dignity and must be unequivocally condemned.”
It declared: “The Nigeria Governors’ Forum stands in unwavering solidarity with the bereaved families and the state government at this time of profound sorrow.”
The forum also offered thoughts and prayers, stating:“We pray for the peaceful repose of the departed souls, divine comfort for grieving families, speedy recovery for the injured and the resilience of survivors.”

Further assuring support, the NGF said it is prepared to fully cooperate with Benue State and relevant authorities in their efforts to reestablish security and stability.
It called on citizens across the country to rise above divisions and unite: “We urge every Nigerian, irrespective of creed or affiliation, to denounce such brutality and collaborate towards forging a nation rooted in peace, justice and mutual respect.”
The forum concluded by expressing deep sympathy to the governor of Benue, the state government, and residents over the attack on the two communities.
