The Vanguard For The Voice Of Reasoning has dismissed accusations made by former Plateau State Labour Party governorship candidate, Chief Yohanna Margif, against Governor Caleb Manasseh Mutfwang.
Margif, the Waziri Mushere, had alleged in a statement that the governor had “abandoned the people in his community to their fate” while Fulani militias continued killing residents and taking over lands in Bokkos Local Government Area.
In its reaction on Monday, the 11th of August, 2025, Chairman James Buba described the claims as “false and baseless,” insisting the governor had never been silent on the security crisis in Bokkos or any other part of the state.
He accused Margif of neglecting his people “for over a year” and failing to show up during repeated attacks.
Buba maintained that Mutfwang had demonstrated solidarity with affected communities, including Mushere. He cited the governor’s visit to Mushere and other violence-hit areas on June 22, 2025, where he “consoled victims, restored hope, and provided relief materials.”

“It is shocking to hear Mr. Yohanna Margif, who has abandoned his people for several years, accuse Governor Mutfwang of being silent over the attacks,” Buba said. “If there is any governor Plateau State has produced who has stood firmly with his people, it is Governor Mutfwang. Idle minds and shortsighted individuals like Margif should not be allowed to mislead the public with unfounded claims.”
The Vanguard further referenced a recent intervention in which the governor sent a delegation led by Plateau State House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Naanlong Daniel Gapyil, to ensure the completion of a bridge project in Mushere.
Buba criticised Margif’s remarks as “unguided and self-serving,” accusing him of “living comfortably in Abuja while ignoring the pains and sufferings of his people.”
While expressing sympathy for Mushere residents, the group urged them to remain steadfast and defend themselves. It also called on security agencies to step up protection of lives and property or “give way for the people to defend their land.”
