A non-governmental organisation, Nigeria’s Political Horoscope (NPH) has singled out Lagos politician and philanthropist, Dr Oladipupo Okeyomi, as exceptional in Nigeria’s political space.
The group in a communique after a meeting in Lagos, stated that Okeyomi, widely known as Carry Go, got a clean bill of health politically because he does not play politics of bitterness and has invested so much in human empowerment and education.
In the statement by its President, Comrade Williams Alozie, and National Secretary, Mr. Tolulope Obadofin, the NPC commended Okeyomi, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC) in Lagos, to all Nigerian politicians and public office holders.
“Here is a man who on four occasions lost the opportunity to become executive chairman of Ojokoro Local Council Development Area of Lagos State because some powerful politicians took his ticket from him, but he was unfazed.
“He kept enjoining his supporters to be law-abiding and hopeful, and he kept his political family through many masses-oriented programmes under the aegis of his human empowerment group, Change Agent Foundation International ((CAFI), the group enthused.
The NPH further noted that Okeyomi, through the CAFI, had provided various work tools for over three thousand artisans in Lagos and Ogun communities since the group was launched in 2012.
Besides, it reckoned that over 2000 indigent students had been offered tution-free scholarship by the CAFI, apart from helping to restore many out-of-school children to the classrooms.
” This is the type of politicians we need in Nigeria, not the self-centred ones who would no spare a thought for the less-privileged. While not being in government, he was always using his personal resources to advance the cause of humanity,” the group further applauded.
Meanwhile, the NPH has expressed displeasure over the political logjam in Ondo State, urging the state’s House of Assembly to rise above political sentiment and vested interests and allow the state’s deputy governor, Mr. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, to take over as Acting Governor, in the absence of his boss, Governor Rotimi Akeredolu.
“It is common knowledge that Governor Akeredolu is not fit enough to resume duty after returning to Ibadan, Oyo State from Germany, where he underwent medical treatment.
“What is proper on compassionate grounds is for the deputy governor to continue to act for him; otherwise, Ondo State is plunged into a constitutional crisis,” the group counselled.
