Independent National Electoral Commission, on Saturday, dismissed rumours that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ladi Adebutu, is not on the list of candidates for the March 18 elections.
INEC made this clarification contrary to speculations that it had not recognised Adebutu as the candidate of the PDP in the state.
Resident Electoral Commissioner in Ogun, Niyi Ijalaye, said such speculations are not true.
Ijalaye, who spoke with newsmen in Abeokuta on Saturday, said, “It is a rumour that is not founded, that is all.”
The REC maintained that Adebutu is the Ogun PDP governorship candidate, urging residents of the state to ignore contrary reports.
Ijalaye stressed that Adebutu would be participating in the election as the authentic governorship candidate of the PDP.
