Gumi leads Northern leaders in a closed-door meeting with Obasanjo

Renowned Islamic cleric, Sheikh Ahmad Gumi is currently leading some Northern leaders in a closed-door meeting with former President Olusegun Obasanjo at the Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, Ogun State.

Obasanjo’s media aide, Kehinde Akinyemi, confirmed the meeting between Gumi, some Northern leaders and Obasanjo.

“It’s not that the meeting was held, it is still going on and it’s not just between the two of them, it’s a stakeholders meeting holding at his residence here in Abeokuta,” Akinyemi told newsmen.

It was gathered that the focus of the meeting is the worsening spate of insecurity in the country.

Lately, Gumi has been consulting with various stakeholders, including bandits as part of efforts to address the security challenge confronting the country.
