Gunmen Attack Zamfara Gov’s Chief Of Staff

Gunmen suspected to be bandits attacked the convoy of the Chief of Staff to the Governor of Zamfara State, Alhaji Mouktar Lugga, along the Funtua–Gusau highway.

According to multiple reports on Friday, the incident occurred near Kucheri village on Thursday evening as Lugga was returning to Gusau after attending an official engagement.

It was gathered that the attackers emerged suddenly from both sides of the road and opened fire on the vehicle carrying the chief of staff, his driver, and two other occupants.

One of the bullets reportedly pierced the vehicle’s windshield, narrowly missing the driver. In a dramatic moment during the ambush, one of the assailants attempted to fire at close range, but the weapon failed to discharge.

Despite the intensity of the attack, the driver demonstrated remarkable composure, successfully manoeuvring the vehicle out of danger.

As of the time of filing this report all occupants of the convoy escaped without injuries.

The incident highlights ongoing security challenges along major highways in the region, where banditry and armed attacks have remained a persistent threat.
