Gunmen invade Kaduna school, abduct only female students

Unknown gunmen have abducted unspecified number of female students of the Federal College of Forestry Mechanisation in Mando area of Kaduna State.

BBC reported that a witness said while half of the female student population of the college was taken, all their male colleagues were spared by the abductors.

The gunmen, it was learnt, invaded the school in the early hours of Friday and abducted only female students.

Kaduna State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, Samuel Aruwan, has already confirmed the incident.

Aruwan, however, said investigation into the kidnap incident had begun.

Police Public Relations Officer, ASP Mohammed Jalige, also said the exact number of students abducted could not be ascertained yet.

“They were abducted last night, we have no details of the number of students and I can’t say if they are all female,” the PPRO said.

He, however, assured that the police and Army had begun to trace the kidnappers to rescue the abducted students.

This early Friday morning abduction is the third major attack on a school in Nigeria in 2021.

Last month, gunmen abducted students and staff of Government Science Secondary School, Kagara, Niger State, and Government Girls Secondary School, Jangebe, Zamfara State.
