Gunmen Kidnap Seven on Owo-Ipele-Benin Highway

Gunmen have abducted seven travelers returning to Akure from a South-South state along the Owo-Ipele-Benin Highway, according to the state police spokesperson, Funmi Odunlami.

Confirming the incident, Odunlami stated that “seven persons were kidnapped by the assailants,” adding that investigations are underway and more details will be provided in due course.

Sources revealed that the victims were traveling in a commercial vehicle, which was later found abandoned by the roadside. Concerned motorists raised the alarm upon discovering the vehicle.

Reports indicate that the kidnappers have contacted the victims’ families, demanding ransom payments for their release. Authorities have yet to disclose the identities of the victims or the ransom amounts demanded.

The police have assured the public that efforts are ongoing to rescue the abductees and apprehend the culprits.
