Gunmen suspected to be political thugs have reportedly killed a member of the African Democratic Congress during a meeting of party supporters in Emilaghan Community, Abua/Odual Local Government Area of Rivers State.
The victim, identified as Kamadioye, was allegedly shot dead at about 10pm on Friday while attending the meeting, according to reports from Nigeria Info on Monday.
Four other members of the ADC were also reportedly injured in the attack and are currently receiving medical treatment at a hospital.
The ADC State Publicity Secretary, Chizi Enyi, confirmed the incident and said the police had been informed about the meeting before the attack occurred.

Enyi called on the police to launch a thorough investigation into the incident, identify those behind the attack and ensure that they are brought to justice.
The latest incident has raised concerns over the safety of political gatherings in the state, particularly as political activities continue to generate tensions in some communities.
Police authorities had yet to publicly disclose details of the investigation or confirm any arrests in connection with the attack as of the time of filing this report.
