Unknown gunmen have stormed the premises of a construction firm, Danatrite Construction Company in Oban, Akamkpa Local Government Area of Cross River State, killing a police sergeant, Ifere Samson and kidnapping four expatriates.
The foreign nationals, who have been identified as Kan Jinxi, Hujin chang, Jiang Jijun, and Cheng Qing were said to have been abducted on the premises of the firm on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, one Mrs Udosen, whose husband was kidnapped and killed in 2018 in Calabar, was also kidnapped on Tuesday night in Calabar South LGA.
Details of the kidnap are still sketchy as security agents are said to be on the trail of the gang members, who whisked her away.
Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, confirmed the incident.
According to her, the report was indeed true, adding that a police officer, who was a security guard at the company, was killed during the incident.
She assured that the police were on top of the situation as their operatives were already on the trail of the hoodlums.
Ugbo said, “As I speak with you, the Deputy Commissioner of Police and some team of officers are on their way to the area and I will give you more details.
“I cannot really tell you much about the incident but as they conduct preliminary investigations I will give you extra details as soon as possible.”
