Former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed deep concern over the current economic hardship in Nigeria, revealing a surprising twist about his personal life.
Speaking to the All Progressives Congress (APC) Caucus at the Katsina State Government House, Buhari disclosed that he now depends on rental income from one of his two houses to sustain himself.
The former leader emphasized his modest lifestyle, stating, “After my eight years as a civil president, I have only three houses: one in Daura and two in Kaduna. I have given one out for renting where I get money for feeding.”
Buhari firmly maintained that his eight years in office were devoid of any corrupt enrichment, declaring that no one could blackmail him for illicit gains.
With homes in Daura, Katsina State, and Kaduna State, he reiterated his commitment to integrity, insisting he left office with the same principles he entered with.
Urging leaders to uphold transparency and accountability, Buhari also highlighted the challenges of governance, which he believes many Nigerians fail to understand.
According to him, citizens are often quick to criticize their leaders during and after their tenure, unaware of the complex realities of running a nation.
