A man simply identified as Garba has been electrocuted at Isale Eko area of Lagos after urinating inside an electrical transformer.
The incident led to the sparkling of various wires connected to the transformer for a few minutes, resulting in people fleeing for their lives
Trouble started for Garba, a cart pusher, when he branched to urinate after being pressed while on duty.
Unfortunately for him, he urinated on one of the wires that went into the electric transformer.
Some of the residents who spoke with our correspondent said the victim would hardly make it alive as he was burnt beyond recognition during the incident.
“It was a sorry case for the Hausa man. Out of ignorance, he urinated in front of the transformer not knowing there is a wire there that can shock him. All we just heard was wires sparkling and we all rushed out and we saw people shouting someone has been electrocuted. Fortunately for him, he was later flung away and he remained unconscious. Later I learnt he woke when some Hausa men came to carry him to the hospital’, Wasiu, a resident, shared.
Another resident, Kola Mutiu, who hinted on the incident, said, “I doubt if the Hausa man will make it alive. His urine on the wire is what made the case worse. He was rushed to the General hospital by his people.
A source at the Lagos Island General hospital, who didn’t want her name mentioned, confirmed that Garba was not dead despite the lots of burns he sustained.
“It was as if he was thrown inside the hot oil. But thank God the doctors were able to revive him. He is going through serious treatment and I believe with time, his many wounds will be healed.
