Herdsmen Attack: NEMA Distributes Relief Items to Benue Victims

National Emergency Management Agency has distributed relief supplies to those affected by herdsmen and bandit attacks in the Kwand, Ukum, Logo, and Katsina-Ala Local Government Areas of Benue State.

Obaje Bernadette at the event, stated that the relief materials were provided by the Federal Government to support those affected by the attacks.

This was made known in a statement by the agency and shared on its X handle on Friday.

She highlighted the government’s dedication to supporting disaster victims and at-risk communities nationwide.

The distribution, which took place on behalf of the Head of Operations, Adebiyi B. Razaq, at Zaki-Biam in Ukum LGA, had in attendance, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BESEMA), the police, Red Cross, LGA executives, Traditional rulers among others.

The statement partly read, “The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) North Central Zone delivered relief materials to the victims of herdsmen and bandits attacks in Kwand, Ukum, Logo and Katsi-Ala Local Government Areas of Benue State.

“Representing the Head of Operations, Mr. Adebiyi. B Razaq, at the occasion, Ms Obaje Bernadette, while delivering the items, said the relief items were provided by the Federal Government to give succour to the affected persons. She added further that the federal government is always providing for the needs of victims of disasters and the vulnerable in the country.

“Receiving the items on behalf of the victims, the Senator representing Benue North-East in the National Assembly, Senator Emmanuel Menga Udende, appreciated the Federal government for the items and expressed that the items will go a long way in providing relief for the victims. He called on the Federal Government to provide enough security for the people of the zone because of the frequent herdsmen and bandits attacks in the senatorial district. The relief materials included food and non-food items.

“The distribution of the relief materials took place at Zaki-Biam in Ukum Local Government Area with the following stakeholders in attendance: Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Benue State Emergency Management Agency (BESEMA), the police, Red Cross, LGA executives, Traditional rulers among others.”
