One Ibrahim Adamu Mohammed, a resident of Kazaure, Jigawa State has hanged himself after his proposed girlfriend got wedded to another man.
The incident, Firstnews learnt, happened on June 12, 2022. The residents woke up and found the deceased with rope in his neck, dangling on a tree.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) in the state, Lawan Shiisu Adam, confirmed the incident, adding that the deceased hailed from Gayawa village, in Ungogo, Kano State
He said, Ibrahim committed suicide by hanging himself along Daura Road, adjacent Baushe filling station in Kazaure town at an uncompleted building.
The family of Ibrahim confirmed that he killed himself because he was heartbroken after his girlfriend married another man.
Adam said the deceased travelled from neighbouring Kano to commit suicide in the area, saying that was why he was not immediately identified by residents who spotted his body dangling from the tree.
The body of the deceased has been deposited at a mortuary in the Kazaure council area.
