How policeman arrested, raped me for not wearing face mask – Widow

A woman, who pleaded not to be identified, has accused a police inspector identified as Peter Ebah, attached to Saakpenwaa Police Division in Tai Local Government Area of Rivers State of detaining and raping her.

She alleged that the inspector took her to a guest house after arresting her for not wearing a nose mask and had sex with her under duress.

The victim, who is a widow and mother of two, said that she was arrested in a bus she was traveling in from Bori, Khana LGA, to Port Harcourt, around 6.30pm on Tuesday.

She alleged that after the police officer had detained her at the checkpoint for hours, he put her in the police van and drove her around under the pretext of taking her to the station, adding that they ended up at a guest house.

The widow said she cooperated after the police inspector threatened her.

According to her, “After a while, they took me to a guest house, where one of them, Inspector Peter Ebah, from Sakpenwa Police station raped and threatened to kill me if I misbehaved and held me there till this (Wednesday) morning.

“In the morning, he asked me to give him my account number so that he would transfer N2,000 into it. I played along and gave him the account number because I didn’t know what he would do to me if I had refused.”

State Police Public Relations Officer, Nnamdi Omoni, said investigation had already been launched into the matter and efforts were on to identify the accused police officer to ensure that justice was done.
