I never cornered church money to my side —Oyedepo

The Presiding Bishop and founder of the Living Faith Church, also known as Winners Chapel International, David Oyedepo, has revealed how his unwavering trust in God has guided his ministry and personal life.

Speaking during his sermon titled “The Bible: A Most Reliable Guide to Life,” streamed live on the church’s YouTube channel on Sunday, Oyedepo shared insights into his financial principles and reliance on divine guidance.

Oyedepo highlighted the critical role of God’s word in navigating life’s challenges, recounting a pivotal moment when he committed to full-time ministry.

“I asked when God told me to go into full-time ministry, ‘Lord, who pays me?’ because I’m not cultured to beg. I was sincere. Every sincere question has an answer with Jesus,” he said.

In response to his query, Oyedepo received a clear message from God: “‘After these things, He appointed seventy others also, and the labourer is worthy of his wages.’”

Emphasizing the word ‘appointed,’ Oyedepo interpreted God’s answer as a confirmation of his divine employment and God’s responsibility to provide for him.

“You are in my employment, I am responsible, just stay on duty,” he explained.

Reflecting on his journey, Oyedepo stated, “Light of life. I have not looked for who pays me since then, till tomorrow, and till I go to heaven. We have never prayed for what to eat in my family. The five loaves of bread and two fishes were more than enough.”

He also stressed his commitment to financial integrity, asserting, “I never cornered church money of N1 to my side. The light of life is so important; it shows you the way to go.”

Oyedepo shared further insights into how God guided him in understanding His purpose for marriage and principles for church growth.

“Why is this church not growing? He took me through the lines of four points that could grow a church in the desert,” he said, encouraging his congregation to “reach out for the light.”

Through his sermon, Bishop Oyedepo emphasized the importance of living by biblical principles, relying on divine guidance, and maintaining integrity in all aspects of life and ministry.
