The Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission has commenced Phase 8 of its Constituency and Executive Projects Tracking Exercise in Katsina State, monitoring 39 projects valued at N13.5bn across the state’s three senatorial districts and federal constituencies.
The exercise is being supervised by the Director of Operations, Ludam Samuel.
The tracking team, made up of officers from the commission’s headquarters and the Katsina State office, is working in collaboration with representatives of the Nigerian Institute of Quantity Surveyors and members of the media to ensure accountability, value for money and compliance with project specifications.
Speaking during the exercise on Friday in Katsina, Samuel said the commission had recorded mixed findings.
“So far, we are satisfied in some projects, while in others the contractors will be mandated to return to the site to remedy the gaps identified,” he said
According to him, the team inspected several health facility projects within Katsina metropolis, as well as road projects in Funtua and Kankia.

Water supply schemes were also tracked in Kurfi, Dutsin-Ma, Mashi and Dutsi Local Government Areas.
“In the education sector, school projects were monitored in Kafur, Sandamu, Daura and Mai’Adua Local Government Areas.
The team also assessed the installation of solar-powered streetlights and reviewed various empowerment programmes implemented across the state,” he added.
The commission noted that the Phase 8 tracking exercise, which began on Monday, is part of its nationwide initiative aimed at strengthening transparency and ensuring that constituency projects funded with public resources are properly executed for the benefit of citizens.
