The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Kayode Adeolu Egbetokun, has approved the immediate deployment of seven newly promoted Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) to key commands across the country. Additionally, 18 Commissioners of Police (CPs), who are awaiting confirmation for AIG ranks from the Police Service Commission (PSC), have been reassigned to new positions.
Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Muyiwa Adejobi, announced the redeployment in a statement on Thursday, emphasizing that the strategic postings are part of ongoing efforts to strengthen police operations and improve security nationwide.
New AIG Appointments
The following AIGs have been assigned new roles:
AIG Margaret Ochalla – Head, AIG FCID Annex, Lagos
AIG Abayomi Peter Oladipo – AIG Zone 13, Ukpo
AIG Fred Ekokotu – AIG Zone 11, Osogbo
AIG Iwo Nemi Edwin Osigboka – AIG Border Patrol Force, Abuja
AIG Garba Ahmed – AIG Department of Training & Development, Abuja
AIG Salman Dogo – AIG Zone 5, Benin
AIG Kanayo Uzuegbu – AIG Zone 9, Umuahia
CPs Acting as AIGs
The IGP also redeployed 18 CPs who are currently serving as acting AIGs pending PSC approval. They include:

Strengthening Police Operations
The IGP has tasked the newly appointed officers with ensuring strict supervision and professionalism in their respective commands. He urged them to align with ongoing police reforms aimed at revitalizing law enforcement structures across the country.

“These deployments are meant to enhance security, improve policing strategies, and reinforce public trust in the Nigeria Police Force,” the statement read.
