The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Kayode Egbetokun, has directed all commands of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) to execute a strategic action plan aimed at cutting crime rates by 50% in 2025.
The directive was issued during the 5th Annual Conference and Retreat for Senior Police Officers in Abeokuta, Ogun State.
The event, themed ‘Improving Nigeria’s Internal Security and Economic Prosperity Through Inclusive Policing,’ aligns with President Bola Tinubu’s security vision.
IGP Egbetokun emphasized that the NPF is committed to fostering a professional, intelligence-driven force capable of proactively addressing security threats.
He highlighted the ongoing collaboration with the military and other security agencies in tackling banditry, kidnapping, and organized crime, stating that these joint efforts have been producing substantial results.

Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State pledged his administration’s support for the police force, announcing plans to supply electric motorcycles to enhance mobility and efficiency in crime-fighting efforts.
Additionally, the Ogun State government is partnering with a French company to introduce advanced surveillance drones capable of detecting criminal activities from altitudes of up to 8,000 feet, further strengthening security operations in the state.
The conference underscored the need for innovation and cooperation in achieving a safer and more secure Nigeria.
