Ikoyi Club 1938 has announced plans to mark the golden jubilee of its Ladies Golf Section with the Ladies Open Golf Tournament, scheduled to hold from November 11 to 15, 2025, in Lagos.
The tournament will feature top women golfers drawn from across Africa, making it one of the most competitive and prestigious events in the section’s history.
Organisers explained that the event will serve a dual purpose, to celebrate the section’s 50 years of existence and to showcase the depth of talent in women’s golf on the continent.
According to the planning committee, activities lined up for the celebration include competitive rounds of golf, ceremonial events, and tributes to past captains and members whose efforts sustained the section since its establishment in 1975.

Special recognition is also expected to be given to women whose participation helped expand the reach of the sport in Nigeria.
Officials of the club noted that the 2025 Ladies Open would not only affirm the section’s commitment to developing golf among women but also strengthen ties with other golf associations in Africa.
The anniversary is regarded as a milestone in Nigerian golf, reflecting both the legacy and future aspirations of women golfers.
