I’ll bring in investors to improve Abeokuta South LG’s economy – Akintunde

SEGUN AYINDE, ABEOKUTA

Aspirant for Abeokuta South Local Government Area council chairmanship, Alhaji Farouk Akintunde, has promised to bring in investors in order to create wealth and improve the economic growth of the area.

He said he would take a cue from the Public Private Partnership initiative of the Governor Dapo Abiodun-led administration.

Akintunde, who is aspiring on the platform of the All Progressive Congress, said that he would borrow a leaf from Governor Abiodun’s PPP initiative by embarking on projects that would attract investors for social and economic development of the council area.

He promised to embark on trunk C road construction and rehabilitation as well as provision of drainages and electricity to attract investors and ensure that the tax regime imposed on them would not be a burden to hinder their operations in the council area.

The council aspirant, while boasting that he’s the APC candidate to beat in the contest for the position of Chairman at the LG poll, expressed confidence that with his “agenda of consolidation,” he would drive the affairs of the council to a greater height, if eventually elected.

Akintunde, who said that he had the welfare of the LG staff at heart and was in chairmanship race to better the lives of the people of the council area, promised to provide portable water and empower the youths and market women in the area on their various businesses to improve the economy of the area.

The council aspirant also promised to refurbish and rehabilitate dilapidated classrooms in primary schools  in order to make learning conducive for pupils in the local government area, noting that he would seek support of the state government to acquire land for agriculture.

He said, “I have discovered that the the state government initiative  on the PPP is bringing a lot of dividends to the economic growth of Ogun State; that is why you can  now see that most business investors  are running from Lagos down to Ogun State. We will share from that initiative to bring in private business organisations to assist in the growth of the economy in the local government.

“I will open up the trunk C road based on the availability of funds, and provide  drainages and do gradings as well as rehabilitation of roads because there are many communities that are experiencing bad roads and where the road is bad it will affect their economy and social well being.

“I have decided to offer myself for the position of Abeokuta South Local Government chairmanship because of my conviction. I have the prerequisite to lead the local council. My vision for the LG is my agenda of consolidation; not to outshine the previous chairmen but to improve on what they have done for the betterment for the people living in the local government area.”
