Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State says he will not shy away from naming his preferred successor ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Speaking on Sunday, June 29, at an All Progressives Congress (APC) stakeholders’ meeting in the Nasarawa West senatorial zone, held in Keffi, Sule cautioned aspirants against stoking political tension too early.
He noted that while his duty is to guarantee a transparent and fair process, he also reserves the right to back a candidate.
“But A.A. Sule also has the right to support someone. When the time comes, I’ll clearly name my preferred candidate,” he said.

“And I will not be afraid to publicly endorse who I believe should succeed me. I am responsible for ensuring the primary election is free, fair, and transparent.”
The governor praised the organisers of the meeting for championing peace and unity within the party.
He urged leaders in other senatorial zones to host similar gatherings to build the party’s strength ahead of the general election.
Sule also thanked party members and residents for the peaceful conduct shown during President Bola Tinubu’s recent visit to the state.
