The Acting Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, on Tuesday, October 14, convened the quarterly consultative meeting with leaders of political parties, reaffirming the Commission’s dedication to transparent and credible elections across Nigeria.
Addressing party leaders at INEC’s Abuja conference room, Agbamuche-Mbu highlighted the Commission’s achievements, ongoing preparations, and key deadlines ahead of upcoming elections.
She said the November 8 Anambra State governorship election is on track, with ten out of thirteen key activities already completed.
“The outstanding activities are the publication of Notice of Poll on 25th October, the last day for campaigns on 6th November, and the election itself on 8th November.
“Political parties are urged to strictly adhere to these timelines,” she said, adding that security agencies have been fully engaged to ensure a peaceful exercise.

The Acting Chairman also briefed participants on other upcoming elections, including the FCT Area Council polls in February 2026, and governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun States, highlighting completed and pending activities.
Agbamuche-Mbu took time to update party leaders on the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), which began in August 2025.
“The strong response from Nigerians shows their confidence in our democracy and in INEC’s efforts to ensure every eligible citizen can register and vote,” she noted.
She further acknowledged Prof. Mahmoud Yakubu for his legacy of innovation and integrity, which has strengthened INEC and the nation’s democratic process.
The meeting, attended by party chairmen, national commissioners, and senior INEC officials, provided a platform for stakeholders to discuss electoral processes, timelines, and strategies to guarantee free, fair, and credible elections nationwide.
Agbamuche-Mbu concluded by assuring political parties that the Commission will continue to engage them inclusively and transparently in all electoral activities.
