The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has announced the commencement of Permanent Voter Card (PVC) distribution in Osun State ahead of the 2026 governorship election.
The exercise, which begins this week, is targeted at eligible voters who registered during the recent Continuous Voter Registration (CVR), applied for transfer of registration, requested replacement of lost or damaged PVCs, or updated their voter information.
In a statement issued on Monday, July 20, the Resident Electoral Commissioner for Osun State, Oluwatoyin Babalola, said the distribution would start at the Registration Area level before moving to Local Government Area offices to make the process more accessible.
According to her, PVC collection will take place across the state’s 332 Registration Areas from Wednesday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 28, 2026.
The exercise will run every day, including weekends, between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m.
“Following the completion of the Registration Area phase, PVC collection will continue at all INEC Local Government Area offices across the state from Wednesday, 29 July to Friday, 7 August 2026,” the statement read.

INEC said collection at the Local Government offices would also hold daily, including weekends, from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Babalola urged all eligible voters to collect their cards within the specified period, stressing that the PVC is the only document recognised for accreditation and voting on election day.
She added that voter cards from previous registration exercises that had not been collected would also be available during the distribution period.
The electoral commission warned that PVCs must be collected only by the registered owners, insisting that no one would be allowed to collect a card on behalf of another person.
“The Commission hereby reminds voters that PVC collection is strictly personal and it is an offence to do otherwise. Collection by proxy will not be allowed under any circumstance,” the statement read.
Babalola reaffirmed INEC’s commitment to conducting “a free, fair, credible, inclusive, and transparent Governorship Election in Osun State” and advised residents seeking more information to visit the nearest INEC Local Government office or contact the commission through its official communication channels.
