The Independent National Electoral Commission has announced the deployment of 24,000 ad-hoc personnel for the November 8 Anambra governorship election, reaffirming its readiness to conduct a credible and peaceful poll.
INEC Chairman, Prof. Joash Amupitan, SAN, disclosed this on Tuesday, October 28, in Abuja during a meeting of the Inter-Agency Consultative Committee on Election Security.
“With just 11 days to the Anambra governorship election, the commission is confident in affirming its full preparedness for the polls,” Amupitan stated.
He explained that voting would take place in 5,718 of the state’s 5,720 polling units, with only two excluded due to the absence of registered voters.

The INEC Chairman also urged security agencies to ensure professionalism and vigilance during the election, stressing that vote-buying and voter inducement must not be tolerated.
“Security agents cannot afford to create an environment that allows vote buyers to operate,” he said.
“Together, let us combat vote-buying, uphold democratic values, and work relentlessly for the credibility of our elections,” Amupitan added.
The high-level meeting, attended by representatives of the military, police, and other paramilitary agencies, was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen coordination and guarantee a violence-free election in the state.
