Winner of the last Saturday’s governorship election in Edo State, Governor Godwin Obaseki and his Deputy, Comrade Philip Shaibu, have been presented their certificates of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission.
INEC’s National Commissioner supervising Edo, Rivers, and Bayelsa States, Mrs. May Agbamuche-Mbu, presented the certificates to the winners at the INEC’s office in Benin on Tuesday.
According to INEC’s Returning Officer, Prof. Akpofure Rim-Rukeh, the PDP candidate polled 307,955 votes to defeat his closest rival, Ize-Iyamu, who got 223,619 votes, during the Edo governorship election.
Obaseki had received the official results sheet of the election from House of Representatives member, Ogbeide Ihama, after defeating Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu, candidate of the All Progressives Congress at the polls.
