The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has warned Nigerians against a fraudulent online recruitment notice claiming that the commission has commenced the recruitment and training of ad-hoc staff for the 2027 General Election.
INEC issued the warning on Monday, August 31, through a notice published on its official X handle, distancing itself from the recruitment message circulating online.
According to the commission, the fake notice directs prospective applicants to a website presented as an INEC recruitment portal.
INEC said the information did not originate from the commission and urged members of the public to disregard the message.
“This information is not from INEC,” the commission stated.
It also clarified that the website and link being circulated are not official INEC recruitment platforms.
The electoral body specifically warned members of the public against clicking on the link, submitting personal information, uploading documents or making payments through the platform.
The warning comes as preparations and public interest surrounding the 2027 General Election continue to grow, creating opportunities for fraudsters to exploit Nigerians seeking temporary election-related employment.
INEC said legitimate recruitment exercises and election-related announcements would be communicated only through its verified channels and official websites.

The commission urged Nigerians seeking information about its activities to rely on its official communication platforms and website rather than unverified messages circulated on social media and messaging platforms.
INEC directed members of the public to its official website for authentic information concerning its activities and future recruitment exercises.
The commission also recalled that it had previously warned Nigerians about fraudulent websites and fake recruitment advertisements falsely claiming to originate from INEC.
It urged the public to disregard the latest recruitment notice and refrain from forwarding or circulating it.
The electoral body further advised Nigerians to exercise caution when interacting with links relating to election recruitment, stressing the importance of verifying the authenticity of online information before clicking or providing personal details.
“Stay informed. Stay safe. Always verify before you click,” INEC said.
The commission’s warning underscores growing concerns over the use of fake online platforms to harvest personal information and potentially defraud members of the public under the guise of legitimate government recruitment.
