Insecurity: Buhari dispatches NSA, IGP, DSS DG, CDI to Sokoto, Katsina

Following the spike in killings by bandits in the Northern parts of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari, on Friday, dispatched a high-level delegation of the heads of intelligence and security services to Sokoto and Katsina states.

On Thursday, President Buhari had inaugurated Navy Ships, Patrol Boats, and a helicopter at the Naval Dockyard, Victoria Island in Lagos to boost security at the nation’s maritime borders.

Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Mallam Garba Shehu, disclosed this in a statement titled, “President Buhari Sends Security, Intelligence Heads To Sokoto, Katsina.”

Shehu’s statement reads, “The President is expecting an immediate situation report and recommendations on actions to follow to effectively deal with the worrying situation.”

National Security Adviser, Major General Babagana Munguno (rtd) is leading the delegation, which includes the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba; the Director-General of the Department of State Services, Yusuf Magaji Bichi; the Director-General, National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufa’i Abubakar and the Chief of Defence Intelligence, Major General Samuel Adebayo.

Earlier, President Buhari had ordered a manhunt for the killers of the Katsina State Commissioner for Science and Technology, Dr Rabe Nasir.

Unknown assailants, on Wednesday, killed Nasir in his house located at Fatima Shema Quarters, Katsina.

The murder of the Katsina commissioner was sequel to an attack by bandits on travellers from Sokoto to Kaduna State in which 23 persons were burnt to death.
