Inspector Dies After Barracks Fight in Apapa, Residents Arrested

An Inspector of Police, Ibrahim Usman, has died after being assaulted during a violent altercation with a fellow resident and her children at Queen Barracks, Apapa, Lagos.

Sources within the Lagos State Police Command told a journalist, Zagazola Makama, that the incident occurred on Friday at about 11:10 a.m. following a dispute between W/Inspector Gambo Yusuf and the wife of the deceased, both occupants of the barracks.

During the confrontation, W/Inspector Yusuf and her children allegedly attacked Inspector Usman, knocking him to the ground. He reportedly lost consciousness immediately after the assault.

Usman was rushed to the General Hospital in Apapa, where doctors on duty confirmed him dead on arrival.

Following the incident, a team of detectives visited both the scene and the hospital. The body was examined, photographed, and later deposited at the hospital morgue for autopsy and further preservation.

W/Inspector Yusuf and her children have been arrested and are currently in custody as investigations continue.

“The Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, has ordered a full and thorough investigation into the incident to ensure that justice is served,” a police source said.
