Professionals have been tasked to invest massively in themselves, as a way of ensuring career fulfilment and meeting the corporate goals of their establishments.
The advice was given in Lagos on Monday by a top management expert, Mr. Collins Nwosu, during a workshop organised by First Media Networks Ltd, publishers of First News Newspapers.
Nwosu, speaking at the training session titled, “Change Management Strategy”, said professionals in the country should rise up to the changing times and evolve new strategies to survive under harsh economic realities in Nigeria.
He noted that what most people have failed to realise is that, “the bigger the problems you solve, the more money you make”.
Stressing the importance of capacity building for employees in any organisation, Nwosu said “the best place you need to invest is yourself; invest massively in yourself.”
He also emphasised the need for team work and value creation, noting that “the value you think you have is useless until the other person perceives it.”
On staff dedication and reward system, the expert tasked the First News management and staff team, saying, “If you help First News to get what it wants, it’ll, in turn, give you what you want”.
In the three-day training session, Nwosu is billed to treat core management issues such as, key partners, key activities, value proposition, key resources, costs, customer relations, channels and revenue, among others.
In own assessment of the Nigerian economy, the expert, however, warned business owners and others in key sectors of the economy against the forlorn hope that the Naira exchange rate to the Dollar would improve any moment soon.
He said key economic indicators in 2022 are clear enough to warrant belt-tightening among corporations, which should ensure that fresh goals are set, to keep businesses alive.
Speaking during the training, Chairman/Editor-in-Chief of First Media Networks Limited, Mr. Daniel Iworiso-Markson, urged professionals to cultivate the habit of building their craft, noting that someday, it would open doors for them.
He recalled how he started his journalism career from the scratch, but noted that with perseverance and dedication, his mustard seed has today grown to an oak tree, which is First News Media outfit.
Other top management staff of First News at the workshop include the Chief Operating Officer, Ms. Bukkie Allison; General Editor, Mr Segun Olatunji; Managing Editor, Mr. Kayode Fasua, and Head, Human Resources, Mrs Ruth Obi-Okonkwo, and Head of PR, Mrs Tolu Oyeniyi-Anibaba
