Israeli Airstrikes Kill Nine In Gaza As Ceasefire Tensions Escalate

At least nine Palestinians were killed on Sunday after Israeli airstrikes hit multiple locations across northern and southern Gaza Strip, including a tent camp sheltering displaced families, according to Palestinian civil defence and health officials.

Medical sources said four people died when a strike hit a makeshift encampment, while another five were killed in a separate attack in Khan Younis.

The Israeli military said the operations were carried out in response to alleged ceasefire violations by Hamas, claiming militants crossed a demarcation line near Israeli troop positions in the Beit Hanoun area.

In a statement, the Israel Defense Forces described the strikes as “precise” and consistent with international law, alleging that armed fighters emerged from underground tunnels east of the so-called Yellow Line. Israeli officials accused Hamas of committing multiple ceasefire breaches, including deploying fighters in restricted zones.

Despite the military justification, humanitarian workers said civilians bore the brunt of Sunday’s attacks, with many victims living èdddin temporary shelters after being displaced by earlier fighting.

Aid groups warn that thousands of families in gaza  remain exposed, lacking proper housing, healthcare, and basic security.

Israel and Hamas have repeatedly traded accusations over violations of the fragile ceasefire, which forms part of a broader peace framework backed by U.S. President Donald Trump to end the Gaza conflict.

Israeli forces said on Saturday they had identified armed individuals near their personnel in northern Gaza, further raising tensions.

Since the ceasefire took effect, Gaza’s health authorities report that more than 600 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli fire, while Israel says four of its soldiers have died in militant attacks during the same period.
