A suspected member of the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), alongside his wife and sons, has surrendered to Nigerian troops in Pulka, Gwoza Local Government Area of Borno State.
Counterterrorism expert Zagazola Makama disclosed this in a statement posted on X on Friday, saying the family surrendered on October 21 at the Forward Operating Base in Pulka.
According to Makama, the suspected insurgent surrendered to troops of the 192 Battalion (Motorised), operating under the 26 Task Force Brigade.

He said preliminary investigations indicated that the family had fled the Wuja terrorist enclave on the Mandara Mountains before surrendering to the military.
“One mobile phone was recovered from the family,” Makama stated.
He added that the suspected terrorist and his family remained in military custody for further investigation and necessary action.
The surrender comes amid ongoing military operations targeting terrorist enclaves in the North-East, as security forces continue efforts to weaken insurgent groups and encourage their members to abandon violence and surrender.
