JAMB Records Highest-Ever UTME Registration with Over 2m Candidates

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has announced that 2,030,627 candidates registered for the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), marking the highest number in the board’s history.

In its weekly bulletin released in Abuja on Monday, March 10, JAMB confirmed that registration closed on March 8. The figure surpasses last year’s total of over 1.9 million candidates and does not include those who registered to take the exam at foreign centres.

Additionally, 200,115 candidates opted to sit for the optional mock UTME scheduled for April 5.

“This year, the board implemented several innovative measures to deter cheating and maintain the integrity of the examination process,” JAMB stated.

It also disclosed that these measures have already resulted in multiple arrests of candidates caught attempting to use forged A-level results for admission.

“Candidates are strongly advised to adhere to the examination rules and regulations and refrain from any dishonest practices during the examination,” the board warned.
