The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) will officially usher in a new leadership on Friday as its outgoing Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, hands over the affairs of the examination body to his successor, Prof. Segun Aina.
In a notice issued on Wednesday, the board announced that the handover ceremony is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Friday, July 31, 2026, and will be streamed live on JAMB’s official social media platforms.
Inviting members of the public to follow the event, the board described the occasion as an important moment in its leadership transition.
“Join us for the live broadcast of the official handover ceremony as Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, the outgoing Registrar of JAMB, formally hands over to Prof. Segun Aina,” the announcement read
The ceremony will formally conclude Oloyede’s tenure, which ends on July 31, while marking the commencement of Aina’s administration as the new registrar of the examination body.
President Bola Tinubu had earlier approved Aina’s appointment to succeed Oloyede. The announcement was conveyed in a statement by the President’s Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga.
According to the Presidency, Aina is a Professor of Computer Engineering at Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, with extensive experience in digital infrastructure, institutional reforms and national examination systems.

The Presidency said he earned a Bachelor of Engineering in Computer Systems Engineering from the University of Kent before obtaining a Master’s degree in Internet Computing and Network Security, as well as a PhD in Digital Signal Processing, from Loughborough University in the United Kingdom. He also completed the Senior Management Programme at Lagos Business School.
It further stated that Aina has spent more than 15 years advising both federal and state governments on digital transformation, systems design and institutional reforms.
His professional experience also includes consultancy roles with examination bodies such as the National Examinations Council (NECO) and the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB), where he contributed to the development of ICT systems and measures to strengthen examination integrity.
The Presidency also described Aina as one of Nigeria’s youngest professors of Computer Engineering, noting that he is set to become the youngest registrar in JAMB’s history.
Tinubu expressed confidence that the incoming registrar would build on the reforms and achievements recorded during Oloyede’s tenure while advancing the board’s operations.
